I've been a bad, bad blogger. Work has been a bit nuts, but I have painted a few things in recent months. First up is this two headed Night Goblin I painted for the campaign my gaming group has been playing. The GM awarded me a two-headed hero with buffed stats for winning some game or other and it seemed wrong not to make a figure to represent him.
I also took him along to Historicon this summer and entered him in the Wargames Illustrated Painting Competition. He ended up getting a gold in the Fantasy Single category. Yay!

Warlock Engineer with Doom Rocket
Skavenslaves
One ratloaf, ready for the deli slicer.
The powdered pigments got a little bit away from me on these guys but I think they are fine for freakin' slaves. Ugh, I need to work on some characters or something now.

Skavenslave Test Model
My friend John and I are doing the Adepticon team tournament in a couple of months so I am attempting to make my rats match is chaos warriors. John sent me a photo of his own test model, which, as per his usual style has lots of saturated colors. After a failed attempt to work with John's exact colors, I added some gray and brown to everything and reverted to my usual washed out pallet. Close enough.

Giant Rats
So I based some Giant Rats a few weeks ago and their absolute ass-suckingness has be wearing on me ever since. After all the work I put into the other models in the army, I couldn't bear the thought of those litter turds in the ranks. Fortunately, I found these the other day:
Giant Rats from Otherworld Miniatures. Not exactly cheap but they are great sculpts and look like rats, not weird, melty chihuahuas .

The Very Hungry Raterpillar
Ladies and gents: The Rattanooga Choo-Choo. Thank you, I'll be here all week.
I figured just about every other technology had found its way into the Warhammer world in the last few years, so I might as well throw in tank treads. Thus, the Nicodemus the Tank Engine was born. The design is inspired by assorted crazy 19th century steam tractors and whatever sprues were within reach. While poking around Google for photos I learned that building giant, fully functional steam tractor models is a hobby in and of itself:
Holy crap, I bow before your superior nerd prowess, crazy English man.
I'm still working on a driver/engineer and it still needs a bit of filling and sanding but its pretty close to being done. Look out, Island of Sodor. I'm going to use it as a Doom Wheel at Adepticon, but I think it would work well as a Hell Pit Abomination too. It is closer to the size of one of those.
Soon I shall paint things.

Warp Lightning Weapon Team Conversion
So here are some Rat Ogres with a Warp Lightning Cannon. What could possibly go wrong? Assorted cables by Dragon Forge. Also note aquarium gravel made of solid gold.
Next up: Doom Tractor!

Skaven Heroes Conversions
I got everyone based last week, made movement trays and put together a couple swarms of Giant Rats, which are a bit incongruously named in the context of Skaven. I also built three of my heroes, a general, a battle standard bearer and a Warlock Engineer with a Doom Rocket. Three Months to Adepticon!

Clanrats & Weapon Teams
Here is my bunker unit of clanrats to hide my warlord and battle standard bearer in. It was nice to be able to just build a bunch of clanrats without scraping off all of their armor! Not much in the way of conversions, just a few assorted torches.
...and here are a couple of weapon teams. In game terms poison wind mortars seem to be the best by far, but the warpfire thrower is also nifty looking so I'm sticking it in too.

Skavenslaves
Here are most of my slaves. Sadly, I have 15 more to go. As you can see, they have way too much green for freaking 2-point models. About half of the dudes in the plastic Clanrats set don't have any armor. For the rest, I scraped the armor off and sculpted raggedy rags in its place. I am dumb.

Poison Wind Globadiers
I actually really like the old Globadiers. If'n you ask me, they are the best of the old models in the Skaven range. Nevertheless...

Skaven Gutter Runners
Time for a new army! Here are the first of the Skaven I've started putting together for the Adepticon Team Tournament, a little unit of Gutter Runners. They are just about ready for primer.
